Basically, all one has to do in this segment is to run almost all the way to Icicle Inn without getting a random encounter, which is much easier said than done.

Finally, the Jenova-LIFE battle went smoothly. She had to open the battle by attacking Tifa and Cloud, so that Tifa’s HP would be in critical range and Cloud would get a Limit Break. As soon as Tifa did not miss the first Deathblow, the battle was done (the following two were sure to hit as Jenova-LIFE was then paralyzed).

It ended up spending three weekend sessions (around 60 hours) on this segment, which is absolutely uneventful except for the Demons Gate battle. This may sound like a lot of time, but it did not in the least feel as terrible as the Jenova-BIRTH battle…

Basically, you stack on so many damage multipliers that you go past the stat cap for attacking, making it round itself upwards to basically infinity. The game can’t measure it, so it just instantly kills the enemy.

I merely had to learn how to navigate through the Escheresque first screen, manipulate a Side Attack encounter, master the minigame on the second screen, look up which path to choose on the screen before the Mural Room and engage in a jolly text skipping spree thorughout all that.
